Mt Saint Benedict Work Party, June 19, 2010
VOA has adopted and maintains two trails in the Fraser Valley. One is Mount St. Benedict located outside of Mission and the other is the Mt. Slesse Memorial Trail in the Chilliwack Valley.

Saturday June 19, 2010 six members of the club hiked in about an hour to McKay Lake where the work began. Dave, Mike and Larry stayed at the lake and built a safe crossing over a series of unstable logs at the mouth of the lake.

Jack, Dianne and Yvette carried on up the steep trail to do some brushing back of the salmonberry bushes. They managed to put in over 2 hours of pruning and made it up to the ridgeline. They then returned to join the others for lunch, and then helped stabilize the remaining logs.

The project was successful and the dozen+ hikers that came through while the work was being done, were appreciative of our work.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and putting in a good day of work on this trail, despite the nasty flies.
